one grand day i looked up and there was a pregnancy test that read positive. never in my wildest dreams did i imagine that i would end up pregnant at this time! freshly divorced and laid off, this is my pregnancy (and soon to be motherhood) story. everyday i learn more about myself and want to become even greater for my budding baby girl!

my new purse that doubles as diaper bag

new wallet

headbands!

non-skid slippers/socks
baby & hospital swag!
so today i had a little shopping spree for me.
i got a new purse that is big enough to double as a diaper bag. and it’s super cute! i got a new wallet which i’m about to fill with important stuff (i.e. insurance stuff). headbands are kinda my signature. i plan on wearing the one with the purple flower during D-day… and then i got 2 pairs of non-skid slippers.
no need to not be fashionable for delivery day right?

so this bringing home baby outfit thing is really boggling my mind. i’m tempted to just bring like 6 outfits to choose from buuuuut i won’t.
which one do you guys think i should bring her home in?
i’ll be making my own version of a moby wrap (ladebelle wrap)… instead of paying $35-$60 for one, i’ve paid $35 for enough fabric to make 2-3.
these are the fabrics that i’ll be using.

i love you… really i do… i love how soft the fabric is and how functional this wrap is. there are so many ways that i can wrap my little on in this. from breast feeding to walking in the mall, you make things so much easier.
but, you’re just far too expensive. i don’t feel like you’re worth $38-$60 no matter how much i love you. so i’ve been forced to take matters into my own hands. i’m sure that you know what this means. i will be making my own version of the “moby wrap” and i will be calling it the ladebelle wrap. yes, i have to do this. i’m sorry that our love affair has to end here. i love the money in my pockets far more.
i hope we can still be friends. i’ll post pix of the ladebelle wrap once it’s finished.

ok… so not really but kinda…
i shouldn’t be buying stuff until after saturday’s baby shower buuuuuut i did. and i was encouraged by my very own mother. so what did i buy?
well, aside from this mornings baby leg warmers, i also bought 4 outfits, a tummy-time play mat, an organizational system, some baby laundry detergent, and matching bows to the leg warmers. *slaps forehead* i know, i know…
those are just the things that i bought. grandma bought 6 outfits, a mini crib (in cherry wood… so super cute and inspired by my pregnant homie sam), baby hats, and some kimono style little t’s. i think it’s safe to say that the baby will be well clothed over the next 6 months.
now what do i need to do? well, i need to clear out the miscellaneous and non-baby related furniture out of my room. then i need to wash all the clothes and blankets. set up the crib. the last couple of things that i really need before she’s here is the travel system (stroller and car seat) and one of those contoured diaper changing things. i think i may order one off ebay.
man… i still can’t believe that the baby is almost here!!!
yes, i have a problem and i know it… i LOVE baby leg warmers! my mom doesn’t understand this obsession but that’s ok. today i ordered 5 pairs of baby leg warmers for $20, including shipping.
why are these so great to me? well, for starters they make diaper changes so easy while keeping my munchkin warm. secondly, they are sooooo cute and make a fashion statement! third, they grow with the baby! so as she grows, they become leg warmers that cover just the lower legs or arm warmers.
so innovative, functional and fashionable at the same time!!!

so this weekend i was bit by my normal creative bug. it seemed to have left for sometime but came back with a vengeance this weekend.
i’m not the only pregnant chick right now and one of my friends is pregnant with twins. on saturday morning, i had an “a-ha” moment when i woke up. i knew i had wanted a kimono/wrap style gown for the hospital and home after i have kalima so i said “self, you should just make one instead of paying $150 for one!”
self also decided that this friend of mine would want one as well. so with that, i was off to the fabric store. beginning at about 2pm and finishing at about 9pm with a couple hour breaks in there, i have finished my first kimono gown for my friend. she likes yellows, greens, blues, stripes, and plaids. well, i got the yellows and greens and stripes in here but no plaids.
i’m pretty excited because i made the pattern in my head, drew it on the fabric, and (with some alterations) it worked! it looks SOOOOOO cute on! i thought that this would be great for the hospital pictures too! no need to lose your sense of style because you’ve just given birth!
like i said, she’s having twins so i decided to make her matching onesies for the boys. the twin onesies run about $40 and since i have no job and lots of free time, i thought it would be cuter to make them. she’s on the radio and her man is a musician/hip hop artist. i thought that it would be sooo cute if the boys had a mic and headphone set to represent their parents love of music. the headphones match so when they’re laying together, they create one headphone.
i had so much fun making these that i may need to go into business! anyone need a custom onesie or kimono gown?
