the mommy memoirs

one grand day i looked up and there was a pregnancy test that read positive. never in my wildest dreams did i imagine that i would end up pregnant at this time! freshly divorced and laid off, this is my pregnancy (and soon to be motherhood) story. everyday i learn more about myself and want to become even greater for my budding baby girl!

my travel system: graco alano flipit travel system

i went shopping for my travel system today with my brother. i knew i didn’t want anything overly girly and like my brother pointed out, she’s not going to care about the color—only the safety. so i picked something out for me!

    here it is:

    isn’t it lovely?!?!

yellow and gray is one of my favorite color combinations and it looks fabulous here! and look! you even have the option to flip the stroller bar thing to have the baby face you! i’m so excited to put this together…

    bad mommy, bad!

ok… so not really but kinda…

i shouldn’t be buying stuff until after saturday’s baby shower buuuuuut i did. and i was encouraged by my very own mother. so what did i buy?

well, aside from this mornings baby leg warmers, i also bought 4 outfits, a tummy-time play mat, an organizational system, some baby laundry detergent, and matching bows to the leg warmers. *slaps forehead* i know, i know…

those are just the things that i bought. grandma bought 6 outfits, a mini crib (in cherry wood… so super cute and inspired by my pregnant homie sam), baby hats, and some kimono style little t’s. i think it’s safe to say that the baby will be well clothed over the next 6 months.

now what do i need to do? well, i need to clear out the miscellaneous and non-baby related furniture out of my room. then i need to wash all the clothes and blankets. set up the crib. the last couple of things that i really need before she’s here is the travel system (stroller and car seat) and one of those contoured diaper changing things. i think i may order one off ebay.

man… i still can’t believe that the baby is almost here!!!

    my first maternity purchases

today as i slipped on my jeans, i couldn’t help but notice that what was once a nice fitting jean that offered me some space around the waistline had gotten significantly tighter. i know that although i’m just shy of 3 months that i could NOT possibly be beginning to show and i’m pretty sure that my tummy is just the victim of some bloat.

nonetheless, i figured today was as good of a day as any to make my first maternity purchases. i initially went out in search of a belly band so that i could unbutton my jeans without risking them falling or exposing myself to any unsuspecting elderly person walking around. i got the belly band in black which IMMEDIATELY increased my comfort. thank the LORD!!!

during my visit to motherhood maternity, i also picked up some of the “organic queasy drops” after being advised that the lollipops that prevented/treated morning sickness were gross. and you know what? these organic drop things work! as is evident by most of the blogs written so far, i’m struggling with this morning sickness stuff and i’ve been throwing up up to three times a day. so far they managed to settle my tummy twice while feeling queasy. a God send already!

the last thing i picked up was the palmers “tummy butter”. the store clerk advised me that pretty much anything palmers was great AND that when looking for products to reduce the chances of stretch mark to look for collagen and elastin in the ingredients. the tummy butter also has a soothing lavender and smells positively great! as a mother herself, the store clerk also recommend that i begin rubbing my tummy with the tummy butter 2 times daily NOW. so let the tummy rubbing commence!

well, tomorrow baby bella and i hop on the road again to atlanta where we will be getting the first ultrasound/sonogram next friday. i’m excited and nervous all at the same time!

    xoxo
